The City of Vincent is commencing Stage 1 of the Haynes Street Reserve Development Plan, which includes demolition of buildings and structures at 31 Sydney Street, North Perth.
The former dental clinic and North Perth Playgroup buildings on the corner of Sydney and Haynes Streets will be demolished.
The contractor has installed temporary fencing around the perimeter of the site and commence works on 8 October.
The demolition works are expected to take place over three to four weeks, and traffic management will be in place during peak demolition.
The works are part of the City’s Haynes Street Reserve Development Plan, where the lots at 15 Haynes Street and 31 Sydney Street will be transformed into public open space.
The public open space will include grassed areas, paths, bins, seating, lighting, natural shade, place space amenities and irrigation.
Community consultation results were also reflected in the design through incorporating nature play elements in the design to cater for children of all ages.
The landscape design also focuses on nature and greenery, with native plantings, retention of mature trees and encouraging wildlife.
After the demolition works are completed, the Parks team will soon start converting the land into public open space.
The City is also in the process of selling the carpark at the nearby 25 Sydney Street, where funds will be injected into this plan.
